China MBA and EMBA study tours and executive immersions: a brief for program directors
A China study tour for an MBA, EMBA or executive education cohort is a working week in ecosystems such as Shanghai, Shenzhen or Beijing, with company visits and meetings built around a learning objective set by the institution. Innovation Experience designs the agenda and logistics with the program director; academic content and assessment remain the institution's responsibility.
Learning objectives
Agree on two or three questions the cohort should be able to answer on return: how Chinese companies compete in manufacturing, digital commerce or e-mobility; how artificial intelligence is adopted in operations; what doing business with suppliers or partners in China involves. These questions guide the choice of visits and pre-work.
Cohort profile and languages
- Number of participants, industries and seniority.
- Working language (Spanish, Portuguese or English) and need for interpreters at each visit.
- Academic calendar constraints and possible dates.
Pre-trip preparation
Pre-trip sessions on business culture and China's economic context, readings chosen by the institution, and visit questions assigned to each team can be agreed.
Agenda subject to confirmation
The proposal includes a tentative agenda. Each visit is confirmed with the host organization and may change with availability, so specific companies are not guaranteed until confirmed.
Debrief and assessment
Daily or final debriefs, and any graded work, are defined with the program's leadership. Innovation Experience can facilitate debrief sessions; academic assessment is carried out by the institution.
Responsibilities and logistics
- Who handles each participant's flights, visas and insurance.
- What the proposal covers: accommodation, internal transfers, meals, interpreters, on-site support.
- Who travels on behalf of the institution and how they coordinate with the on-site team.
How to request a proposal
Send the learning objective, cohort size and profile, language and possible dates through the form, by email or on WhatsApp. The proposal details in writing what is included and what is not.
